I wonder whether DDoS skills are taught in any universities or technical colleges? That might be something a person could learn the basics of online, but the best training is experience.

Only a small percentage of SysAdmins I ran across in the field actually knew what the commands they typed in were doing. They had a guide and they just went step-by-step. If anything unusual happened they had to call someone else because they didn't understand how it worked. They definitely aren't going into DevOps. The one SkysAdmin who really knew his stuff had applied for a position as a programmer and took that position to get his foot in the door waiting for a programmer job to become available. Unfortunately for him, he was so good, Ops didn't want to let him go. He had to threaten to quit to get that promotion.
